Ruby on Rails SCRUM Master

Our client is looking for a Ruby on Rails Team Leader to work in their growing and geographically diverse multi-language web development team, developing a large network of local community websites for the UK.

The job will entail solution design, project scoping and planning, agile development methodologies (SCRUM) and architecture development both for new sites and to extend the functionality of the existing websites, and working together with the rest of the development team in code level programming to deploy complete, performance optimized and reliable working solutions.

On top of his/her technical skills, the candidate will lead and mentor other team members, whilst acting as SCRUM Master.
The candidate will be expected to stay up-to-date on current developments in Web, search and Internet oriented software, software development technology and development methodologies. Successful applicants  should be very familiar with open source development and open source tools and resources available on the Internet.

Based in central London, the environment is relaxed, open to new ideas and driven to make a difference. Current technologies include Ruby on Rails, XHTML, AJAX, Sphinx, Sorl/Lucene, Memcache, MySQL and Linux.

Must have:
• Excellent academic qualifications
• 3+ years experience in Ruby on Rails development
• 7+ years experience in Web development
• Excellent understanding of the web
• XHTML
• CSS
• AJAX
• MySQL
• DB design skills
• Linux

Nice to have:
• Experience with search engine
• Sphinx or Solr/Lucene
